Our good friends at Showstoppers turned us on to this; Consider the Random House Webster's College Dictionary and/or the Random House Webster's Unabridged Dictionary (the largest-selling unabridged dictionary in the U.S.) -- published on CD-ROM and available for download from http://www.word genius.com. Dictionaries are a proven and essential tool to assist us to develop our vocabulary, literacy and communication skills. Like most people you are doing more than 90% of your writing on a computer, and much of your reading as well. And whilst PCs have spell checkers they don’t have dictionaries. This productivity tool provides a uniquely useful, uniquely powerful, uniquely easy-to-use resource for all English writers and readers — whatever your age, skills, or discipline. Your language is the difference to creating winning proposals, or achieving top grades in your assignments. This modern dictionary offers an exhaustive, traditional study of the language, while covering the latest, most important developments – ahead of any other dictionary. Including entries and definitions for current place names, reflecting recent political and geographical changes worldwide, and over 75,000 example phrases and sentences to show how words are used in context. With more than 315,000 entries, 1,100 new important words and meanings including broadband, factoid, Bollywood and identity theft, plus 1,500 updated definitions and entries. We use this at the studio and I use it personally. It is inexpensive and thoughtful and best of all it works. (© 2011 Normandie)

Here is another one that can really be a life saver. For File protection  try docLock. This program will keep the thieves away and this is very good at it. We all have files on our computer that contain sensitive and personal information, such as tax returns, financial documents, medical records, photos, videos or other items we simply don't want our children, roommate, work IT guy or others who may come into contact with our computer to see. How do you make certain these important files remain safe and secure? docLock allows you to password protect any file or folder on your computer with ease. It will  securely lock files, folders, documents. It allows you to select the files, folders, documents, photos, video’s, Zip files, PDF’s and other files you wish to lock and password protect. Secure only the files you wish to keep safe. It will protect against lost or stolen personal Information by allowing you a simple way to password protect any personal or sensitive information. Protect yourself against identity theft, financial loss and privacy invasion. docLock is 5 MB in file size, most security software is around 100MB, which means docLock saves the valuable computer resources you need to run programs or surf the web. Here is an interesting feature, one most would like. docLock allows you to share any locked file via email, disk or portable drive with a friend as long as they have the password you created. Feel confident the recipient will be the only one able to access the file. This I just love, conceal passwords in photos. Sometimes passwords are hard to remember, remember a photo instead. To make your life easier, docLock can hide your password in any photo you choose (JPEG, Bitmap, or PNG file). Simply choose any password and then tell docLock to hide the password in the photo of your dog Sparky, when you are ready to unlock the file simply choose the picture of Sparky and your file will unlock. It also offer a secure delete. Many times a deleted file will still be recoverable from your hard drive. docLock Secure Delete makes it easy to remove files so they will be completely unrecoverable. It as some advanced features. For those who want to really take it to the next level, choose from 8 different encryption algorithms, for complete and total control of all your locked files and folders. Included are; BlowFish, Cast-128, 3Des, Des, Gost, RC2, Rijnadael, and Twofish. Keep in mind it would take significantly longer than the age of the universe to crack a 128-bit key, which is already automatically set within docLock. This is the web site go check them out. Good Memory, we suggest Kingston Memory.  www.kingston.com   This is the memory of choice amongst all of us at the studio. They are local and if there is every a problem, we can always take it back. But there is another reason why I like them and that is because it works. Not to long ago, I was in Tahiti taping and of our cameras was dropped in the water. After the divers retrieved it we took out the memory which was Kingston and low and behold it worked. I could not believe it, down 60 feet for several hours, yet we were able to recover everything on the memory stick. I thought then and think now, wow, what a product. I had an opportunity to share that with Kingston at a Digi Focus Event and ever since then Kingston has supplied us with lots of information about memory, and even sent us so to give away. They just treat us well and they are local, here in Southern California.

To add to my story, I always like telling people were bargains are so if you are buying memory, the Los Angeles Computer Fair, is a great place to go. However, much of the memory offered there is pulled or recycled and being sold at the same prices many of the name brands. I actually watched at a table of memory chips and noticed the people were buying price, not quality. I use this as an example because it truly demonstrates is gullibility’s as to pricing. The were several chips or sticks all the same size Two of them were name brands, Kingston and San Disk, both selling for $21, then there were some, the same size, selling for $20 and then there were others selling for $19. Now the ones for $20 looked new, but the ones for $19 looked as if they had been pulled. Here is my concern. If you buy the ones for $20 they may be new and you will have no problems. The ones for $19 can be used and yes you may have a problem. Even if you take it back and swap it for another, look at the cost you incurred. The name brands are usually guaranteed for life so if you have a problem return it to the and they will take care of you. Kingston is local so if there is a problem you can handle now not tomorrow which is another reason why I like them.  Buyers should always beware and act accordingly.

We really believe Kingston is the best for the money, period. We can get memory sent to us from all of the major players, SanDisk. Memorex, M-Systems, but is Kingston really the best. The way they treat us, we say yes. (© 2011 Normandie)

That being said here is one of Kingston's rivals and we have to mention them because they do make an excellent product.
